Ten producers of Kolašin layered cheese have signed agreements on the donation of milk duplicators, which will enable them the highest level of standardization of Kolašin layered cheese production and facilitate milk processing and cheese production.
The project "Standardization of agricultural production in rural areas", funded by the Kingdom of Norway with USD 40,100 within the project "Norway for you - Montenegro", aims to standardize the production of Kolašin layered cheese on 50 farms with territories of the municipalities of Kolašin and Mojkovac, which are included in the project. The NGO Cluster Initiative, which is implementing this project in cooperation with the Association of Kolasin Layered Cheese Producers, procured valuable equipment that will contribute to the standardization of Kolašin cheese production: ten duplicators, 14 milking machines, 40 sets of stainless steel dishes, thermometers, etc.

“The NGO Cluster Initiative has been successfully implementing projects related to rural development, balanced regional development and environmental protection for many years. Through such projects, we will continue to help rural households and agricultural producers from these municipalities and thus strengthen them, and in the right way focus on economically sustainable and stable growth and development," said the executive director of the "Cluster Initiative" Milovan Vlahović.
The agricultural producers included in the project went through a series of workshops aimed at getting acquainted with the specification on the designation of origin of Kolašin layered cheese, the application of the specification in the process of cheese production, and the use of equipment provided by the project.
"As part of the call for funding business support projects, the Kingdom of Norway seeks to contribute to the improvement of business that will contribute to increasing the sustainability and competitiveness of small businesses and job creation. Through support to producers in Kolašin and Mojkovac, the production of Kolašin layered cheese will be professionalized, and its volume will be increased, which will contribute to the development of agriculture in this area," said the “Norway for you - Montenegro" Project Manager Armen Čekic.
"We are grateful to the Kingdom of Norway, which provided funds for this project and recognized the importance of agricultural producers in the economic and social life of the municipalities of Kolašin and Mojkovac, and thus the importance of Kolašin layered cheese as the most recognizable product in this area," said Kolašin Deputy Mayor Danilo Medenica.
As part of the “Norway for You - Montenegro” project, the Kingdom of Norway has allocated more than USD 240,000 for business improvement projects that will contribute to increasing the sustainability and competitiveness of small businesses and creating new jobs.
