Five Women Economically Empowered with Support from Norway

Within the project "Training and employment of women with disabilities in the Protective Workshop" implemented by the Municipality of Bijelo Polje together with the Association of Paraplegics, three confectioners will start working from 1 February 2021

Sewing and tailoring training was successfully completed by five women with disabilities in Bijelo Polje, with the support of the Kingdom of Norway through the "Norway for you - Montenegro" project, three of whom will be employed in the Protective Workshop “Golden Hands”. All participants were handed certificates of successful completion of the training today.

Within the project "Training and employment of women with disabilities in the Protective Workshop" implemented by the Municipality of Bijelo Polje together with the Association of Paraplegics, as part of the public call for vocational training projects "Norway for you - Montenegro", specialized industrial machines were also procured so women with disabilities would be economically empowered.

"Today we have very concrete results of our joint efforts, and that is the employment of persons with disabilities and their training to function independently in the labor market," said the project manager "Norway for you - Montenegro" Armen Čekić.

The President of the Association of Paraplegics Milka Stojanović emphasised that it is very important that three women with disabilities will start working as confectioners from 1 February 2021, in the workshop of the Association.

"As part of the project, we also received machines for making work uniforms, so I believe that with quality labor and modern equipment in the coming period we will be more competitive in the market and achieve the sustainability of the only Protective Workshop in Montenegro," said Stojanović.

All participants in the training were selected at a public call of the Employment Service in Bijelo Polje.

"A contract on the procurement of repro material has been signed, and the production of HTZ equipment, a deficit product in Montenegro, should start soon," said the Coordinator of the Bijelo Polje Municipal Project Team Samedin Agović.
