Norway's Support for New Streetlights in Gusinje

This project worth USD 37,000 envisages the installation of public LED lighting in a new part of the municipality covering all households in the four streets of this neighborhood.

More than 100 residents of the settlement of Begluci in the Municipality of Gusinje will get new streetlights with the support of the Kingdom of Norway through the project "Norway for you - Montenegro". This project worth USD 37,000 envisages the installation of public LED lighting in a new part of the municipality covering all households in the four streets of this neighborhood.

"I am very glad that we are successfully completing this project, which is highly important for the Municipality of Gusinje, with the support of the Kingdom of Norway. The installation of new lighting significantly improves the quality of local infrastructure", said the Mayor of Gusinje, Anela Čekić, during a visit to the construction site.

The Municipality of Gusinje is implementing this project within the Public Call for Local Infrastructure Development, which was implemented within the project "Norway for you - Montenegro". The Kingdom of Norway provided USD 33,450, while the Municipality of Gusinje contributed USD 4,050.

The Deputy Mayor Huso Brdakić pointed out that this is the second project that the Municipality of Gusinje is implementing with the support of the Kingdom of Norway through UNOPS, and a project supporting the business of small food processors was previously implemented.

"Within the call for the development of local infrastructure, seven projects have been selected that will very concretely improve the quality of life in local communities in lesser developed areas of Montenegro. Through this project, LED lighting has been provided for the local population, which will contribute, among other things, to energy efficiency," the Norway for you - Montenegro Project Manager Armen Čekić said.
