Greater Growth of Rural Tourism with the Support of Norway

The adaptation of two mountain lodges Krivi do in Andrijevica and Suvodo in Berane, which are located in the protected areas of the National Park "Biogradska gora" and the Regional Nature Park "Komovi" is underway.

The tourist offer of Andrijevica and Berane will be improved with the support of the Kingdom of Norway through the project "Norway for you - Montenegro". The adaptation of two mountain lodges Krivi do in Andrijevica and Suvodo in Berane, which are located in the protected areas of the National Park "Biogradska gora" and the Regional Nature Park "Komovi", is underway, through the inter-municipal project "Tourist trails of the north" worth 58,100 dollars.

"The north of Montenegro abounds in natural beauties and tourist potentials that need to be presented and used for development of our municipalities, in terms of employment and economic strengthening. Thanks to the support of the Kingdom of Norway, this project will improve cooperation between partners through joint work on better capitalization and use of human, natural and tourist resources," the Manager of the Project "Tourist trails of the north" with the Municipality of Berane Maja Pešić said.

These municipalities have a good network of hiking, biking and hiking trails, and athletes and recreationists often seek accommodation in these mountain lodges, which have 25 beds each. This will also contribute to the development of rural tourism, as well as the placement of local products and local food produced on the surrounding farms.

"Putting the adapted mountain lodge "Krivi Do" into the function will connect tourism and agriculture, where the local self-government recognizes exceptional potentials. Traditional, home-made food produced on the farm and the surrounding pastures, culture and customs combined with the rural ambiance attract an increasing number of tourists. This project, among other things, intends to prevent or mitigate the migration of the population from this area, especially young people," the Project Manager in the Municipality of Andrijevica Miloje Bakić said.

The Kingdom of Norway earmarked 52,300 dollars for this project, while the municipalities of Andrijevica and Berane contributed with 5,800 dollars.
