Women in Montenegro Economically Empowered with the Support of Norway

Through support to entrepreneurs, micro and small enterprises to increase technical and personal capacities, 18 women found employment, while through the implementation of courses and vocational training with employers, 13 new female workers got jobs.

More than 30 women have been employed during the last year through various activities funded by the Kingdom of Norway within the project "Norway for you - Montenegro".

Support for the improvement of gender equality is one of the cross-cutting themes within all activities of the project "Norway for you - Montenegro", of which the most important is their economic empowerment. Thus, through support to entrepreneurs, micro and small enterprises to increase technical and personal capacities, 18 women found employment, while through the implementation of courses and vocational training with employers, 13 new female workers got jobs.

"Community development can only be sustainable if all its members are equal, so through the project we strive to always ensure an increase in opportunities for economic empowerment of women. One-third of small businesses that have received the support of the Kingdom of Norway are owned by women, and many of them have achieved significant results ", says the project manager" Norway for you - Montenegro "Armen Čekić.

During the vocational training with employers, more than half of the participants were women, mostly in the fields of tourism, catering, sewing and furniture production. The support was also provided in the bakery industry, so the production of bread and crust "Jugopek" from Niksic, owned by Zorica Zečević, through the project "Norway for you - Montenegro" got a laminator, mixer, fermentation chamber and a small oven to increase production. This created three new jobs, employing two workers and one delivery man.
