The Kingdom of Norway supports the improvement of infrastructure and the organization of professional training in lesser developed areas of Montenegro through the implementation of 17 projects. Thanks to these activities, the tourist, sports and communal infrastructure will be improved in nine municipalities, while at least 30 unemployed will get a job. The total value of these projects is 414,000 Euros, of which the Kingdom of Norway through the project "Norway for you - Montenegro" allocates 370,000 Euros, while grant beneficiaries participate with some 44,000 Euros.
"Norway supports lesser developed parts of Montenegro, because it itself has experiences with remote parts of the country where it stimulates residents not to emigrate, so I am very glad that we will be able to contribute to employment, especially of people from vulnerable groups. Through projects that will include the construction, reconstruction and renewal of public infrastructure, inter-municipal cooperation will be improved so that local governments can jointly solve the challenges they face," the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway Jørn Eugen Gjelstad said.
Seven infrastructure improvement projects are worth 250,000 Euros, of which 223,000 Euros are funded by the Kingdom of Norway, while local self-governments participate with some 27,000 Euros. These projects will improve the tourist, communal and sports infrastructure in Andrijevica, Berane, Gusinje, Mojkovac, Plav, Petnjica, Pljevlja, Rožaje and Žabljak.
"Together with local governments and providers of vocational training, we will work on improving local infrastructure and enhancing employment in lesser developed municipalities. Thanks to the support of the Kingdom of Norway, we expect significant results that will improve the lives of residents of less developed areas", Norway for You - Montenegro Project Manager Armen Čekić said.
Through a public call for professional training, funding was approved for ten projects, which will mainly be implemented by employers for 60 unemployed persons, 30 of whom will get jobs in Berane, Bijelo Polje, Danilovgrad, Kolašin, Pljevlja and Ulcinj. These trainings will cost 164,000 Euros, of which the Kingdom of Norway will allocate 148,000 Euros, while companies and educational institutions will co-finance 16,000 Euros.
